CSC's Michael Sheehy weighs in on the state of becoming aware of one's dreams as it occurs, in the December 12, 2023 issue of National Geographic.

CSC Staff toured the site of the Contemplative Commons, a 57,000 square-foot complex of indoor and outdoor spaces that will bring together students from across UVA for participatory forms of deep learning.

“I always had that dream that I want to work in the villages in my home state, but when I got there I started developing this fear of ‘Can I really sustain in this kind of work?’” Shrutika Silswal told The Daily Progress.

After graduating from the University of Virginia in 2018 with a double major in African American studies and philosophy, alumna Carrington Kernodle Epperson has returned to the University as a mentor and yoga instructor. In her position as the assistant director of contemplative engagement at the UVA Contemplative Sciences Center, Epperson has one goal: to promote the flourishing of all students through yoga and introspection.

CSC Citizen Leaders Fellow, Hailey Barnett, has just been awarded the ACC Unite Award for 2022 created to honor individuals affiliated with the league who promote and encourage racial equity and social justice through education, partnerships, engagement and advocacy. Those selected have helped create meaningful, lasting change by improving systems, organizational structures, policies, practices and attitudes or have been pioneers and/or helped pave the way for minorities either at the institution or in the community.
